FUT2 (Follicular Unit Transplantation or Strip Method)

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a procedure whereby grafts are obtained from a strip of skin with hair that is removed from the back of the head and possibly the sides of the head (donor area). The strip of skin is divided with the help of a microscope by assistants into grafts of 1, 2 or 3 (sometimes 4) hairs, after which they are placed into the transplant area. The advantage of this method is that damage to the hair follicle is prevented.
